Unemployment Change
This indicator reflects general trends in employment and unemployment in Germany. In this country, the unemployed include people in the working-age population (i.e. aged between 16 and 65 years and of legal capacity) who are not employed but are actively looking for work. The unemployed do not include people who work part-time, but would like to switch to full-time work but cannot for one reason or another.
Unemployment is one of the most important indicators of the state of the economy. An increase in the number of unemployed indicates a recession in the labor market, a decline in related indicators of the state of the economy, and an increase in social disadvantage in the country; it is a leading indicator of household spending and is considered an unfavorable factor in assessing the economy.
In addition, the indicator of change in the number of unemployed indirectly affects such an important indicator as the gross domestic product of the country.
