This indicator measures the change in the number of new orders received by manufacturing firms and is one of the indices used to calculate the ISM Manufacturing PMI.
The calculations are based on data from a survey of supply managers in 18 industries in the country during the reporting period. The information obtained is compiled into a diffusion index, which is weighted at 20% in the calculation of the Manufacturing PMI.
