Top manager of the Washington Post to become Google's general manager of news

Alphabet Inc. appoints the Washington Post's longtime chief information officer to the position of general manager to improve the management of the news division. 

Shailesh Prakash had been leading the design, product and technical teams of the US news publisher for more than a decade before being hired by the tech giant. He will join the Google team in November.

The Washington Post’s Chief Executive Fred Ryan in a memo to employees said about this appointment that this is a huge role, and Google creates an opportunity for him to further pursue his interests at the intersection of news and engineering and to have a significant impact on the whole world.
