Investment climate in Germany becomes less favorable

By the Munich Institute for Economic Research (IFO), the index of investment climate fell by 4.3 to the level of 84.3 in September. Sentiments in the business environment are pessimistic as it was in May 2020 after the end of lockdown. The level of decrease exceeded the forecasts of analysts.

The main economist of Commerzbank Jörg Kramer states the IFO index indicates the recession in the winter semester. A sudden rise in the prices of energy imports generated losses for many enterprises and reduced the level of consumption. In winter, Germany expects economic difficulties. This is especially true in the service and hospitality industries. Trade and building construction were also severely affected.
