NVIDIA short-term pullback is losing steam

NVIDIA stock (NVDA) is clawing its way back from the recent market correction. The broader bullish case seems to be intact, though the short-term picture has grown cloudier. To get a clearer view, three key technical indicators offer a window into the ongoing battle between bulls and bears.

Let's start with Bollinger Bands. The price closed at $206.81, hovering between the middle and top lines, closer to the channel's center. As we moved through July, shares nearly touched the upper boundary at $213.39 (against the $214.77 level), signaling overbought conditions and triggering a logical pullback. But here's the kicker: the decline failed to break below the channel's midpoint at $200.91, a critical threshold. This suggests that the current move is a healthy pause after a strong rally, not a trend reversal. Meanwhile, volatility, as measured by the band width, has stabilized after June's turbulence.

The Stochastic Oscillator echoes this view. Both lines have drifted from overbought territory into neutral ground around the 50 mark. The %K line, still beneath the %D one, has begun to turn up—a potential precursor to a bullish crossover. The Chaikin Oscillator reinforces the message: after peaking on July 15, it dropped but stayed in the green. More importantly, the slowing rate of decline is telling—sellers haven't managed to gain control through volume.

On the fundamental side, the news flow has been largely constructive. The unveiling of the Vera CPU architecture, the strategic stake in Nebius, the launch of Spectrum-6, and the start of Vera Rubin production—all of them reinforce NVIDIA's dominant market position. However, headwinds are still at play: intensifying competition from AMD and broader semiconductor sector volatility loom as risks until the company's earnings report lands at the end of August.

For those ready to take action, here is the trading plan:

Buy NVDA at around $206.80–$207.00. Lock in profits at $218.00. Place Stop loss at $199.60.
