This week, the silver forecast is shaped by its unique dual nature as both a time-honored safe haven and a must-have industrial metal that keeps the modern world running. But which of these roles will dominate? The answer may surprise you.

August has been a strong month for XAGUSD. After recovering from the spring correction, the pair staged an impressive comeback, outpacing gold thanks to a powerful industrial tailwind. So, what's driving this outperformance? Let's figure it out, one by one.

Industrial demand and a widening supply gap

Unlike bullion, over half of the world's silver consumption comes from the real economy—and this is where the pressure is mounting. The explosive growth of artificial intelligence infrastructure and the global push for green energy have made the metal a critical raw material. With the highest electrical conductivity, it is essential for circuit boards in AI data centers, electric vehicle components, and solar photovoltaic cells.

A structural deficit that just won't quit

The numbers tell a stark story: the Silver Institute has recorded a global supply deficit for the sixth year in a row. And production can't keep up. Since about 70% of the metal is mined as a byproduct of copper, zinc, and lead, the industry is not able to ramp up output—even at today's elevated prices. Meanwhile, COMEX inventories have shrunk to critical levels, adding to the tightness.

The macro environment that turns bullish

The prospect of a Federal Reserve (Fed) rate cut in September is currently weakening the dollar and dragging bond yields lower—a textbook catalyst for precious metals. When real yields fall, assets that offer no regular income become far more attractive to investors seeking a hedge against monetary easing.

The gold-to-silver ratio: a signal worth watching

Following a sharp rally in August, the gold-to-silver ratio has tumbled to 66.5. Historically, levels like this have marked a return of speculative interest in the precious metal. And because silver has a smaller market capitalization than its yellow counterpart, it tends to move faster during rallies.

Looking further ahead, the chronic physical shortage, combined with relentless demand from the tech and green energy sectors, lays the foundation for a powerful multi-year uptrend. Major investment firms, including JPMorgan and Citi, forecast average prices between $75 and $81 per ounce by the end of 2026.

The final recommendation is to buy silver. Place Take Profit at $75.00. Set Stop Loss at $50.00.

Calculate your open position so that a potential loss (protected by a Stop Loss order) is limited to 1% of your deposit. If your account balance does not allow you to enter a position of this size, it is better to skip the trade and wait for other market signals that meet low-risk criteria.
