Alphabet adds widgets to YouTube homescreens on devices

All efforts are currently being put by Google, a division of the Alphabet conglomerate, into adding features to its YouTube online service for video streaming.

An addition of some homescreen widgets for iPad and iPhone devices has become one of the most notable recent updates.

Such widgets as Quick Actions, Search YouTube, Home, Shorts, Subscriptions and Search have become available for the application on Apple devices.

Quick Actions are aimed at helping a user to search the service quickly and view content. Instant use of a keyboard or a microphone is allowed through the Search YouTube, and the Search widget might be used for quick searching. The users are also provided with a possibility to view their preferred feeds by using Home, Shorts, Subscriptions widgets.

The Google company strives to give advanced experience of browsing their YouTube service to those customers who use Apple devices, and the recent addition of widgets has also been motivated by this objective. This will probably aid in speeding up the adoption of YouTube by this category of customers.

It’s supposed to boost the performance of the company’s Google services segment, which is the segment that brings the largest revenue to Alphabet.
