On Thursday, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto declared that Ford Motor Co aims to produce electric vehicles in the country and is already negotiating it.
In July the company signed a non-binding memorandum of cooperation to open the nickel extraction plant in Indonesia since Ford also produces Vale Indonesia nickel.
Hartarto had a meeting at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. There he said that the country can create semiconductors and has a large supply of nickel, which is an essential element in the production of batteries for electric cars. All this can support the US automotive industry.
