UBS Group AG and Microsoft Corp have decided to expand their partnership in order to increase UBS' presence in the public cloud space over the next five years.
Also, due to this partnership expansion, UBS plans to transfer more than 50% of its applications, including the key ones, to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, which will now become the main platform for the Swiss financial holding.
Moreover, UBS will get another benefit of the access to one of the most full-featured cloud platforms, allowing the company to significantly improve the speed and quality of its services for consumers, as well as working conditions for employees.
In addition, Microsoft Azure will be of help in advancing UBS’s sustainability initiatives, improving operational efficiency and maintaining standards for compliance and security.
UBS announced its intention to develop on cloud platforms back in 2018. The company was aimed at transferring one-third of its applications to the public cloud space, relying on the partnership with Microsoft. According to the plan, the work had to be completed in 2022, but UBS managed to achieve its goal by February 2021.
