Japanese buyers of LNG check how the halt of RF shipping insurance will influence supplies
Japanese consumers of Russian LNG evaluate how the rules of shipping insurance may influence supplies from key project Sakhalin-2. It is located in the Far East of RF. A Nikkei report shows that international reinsurers refuse to insure the risks related to Russia.
Any further problems related to the fuel will bring issues to Japan which is very dependent on imports from Sakhalin because of its lack of own resources. Tokyo has repeatedly said the Sakhalin-2 project is important for the energy security of the country. The representative of Japanese major energy company Jera Co. Hirotaka Iwase said that now, the firm evaluates the influence on the purchase of liquefied natural gas.
