EU leader says Europe should avoid over-reliance on China

On Tuesday, European Council President Charles Michel expressed concern about Europe's potential over-reliance on China. He stressed that a balance must be struck in such relations, especially in the area of innovative technologies.

Michel spoke positively about the meeting between the U.S. and China heads. Joe Biden managed to meet with Xi Jinping on Monday, forming an image of healthy competition between the countries rather than permanent conflict, which the president of the European Council also noted.

At a press conference before the G-20 summit, Michel said that cooperation between Europe and China will continue in any case, despite the different views on certain things. Both sides need to listen carefully to each other, as this is the basis for mutual understanding and fruitful cooperation.
