A survey made on Thursday by The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) showed results that may not seem the most iridescent. As of November, there was a small decline registered in British industrial orders. The country’s manufacturers also have pessimistic sentiments regarding nearest future prospects.
At the same time, it’s necessary to note a certain increase in output that reached a five-month record level. The output volumes were achieved by improving supply chains. However, manufacturers surveyed share an opinion that a decrease in output volumes is likely to happen in the upcoming months.
As it was said by CBI deputy chief economist Anna Leach, actors of the manufacturing sector positively accepted some aspects of the new budget announced last week by finance minister Jeremy Hunt.
Meanwhile, she also paid attention to a fact that two most prominent current problems almost weren’t addressed, namely the prospects of the business energy support system and accessibility of skills.
According to Leach, insufficient attention to such issues might raise questions about the competitiveness of British manufacturing sector.
