Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin noted the trend of Layer 2 (L2) protocols advancing from the basic Stage 0 to higher security levels. This process coincided with the release of a major Pectra upgrade that supports L2 development. It should improve the staking mechanism, wallet functions, and performance of Ethereum L2 solutions, Crypto Front News reports.
Buterin emphasized that the development team's primary goal is to increase the security level of the ecosystem for user growth and institutional adoption. The Pectra upgrade is expected to double the throughput capacity of Layer 2 networks, according to the expert.
Ethereum co-founder also suggested introducing multi-signatures with independent verifications into the ecosystem for increasing the protocols' reliability at early stages, Crypto Front News reports.
