China is waiting for the U.S. delegation to arrive next week in order to set a stage for Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State. His visit is scheduled for January-February 2023, as reported by the U.S. State Department. Earlier, President Joe Biden had already negotiated with Chinese representative Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
This statement by the U.S. followed remarks by a White House official, stating the country's commitment to improve relations with China. Negotiations are expected to proceed in the near term, as the United States is confronted with a series of economic challenges and repercussions while being too assertive on its interests in Asia.
The delegation’s visit is planned from Dec. 11 to 14. Daniel Kritenbrink, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and Laura Rosenberger, National Security Council senior director for China and Taiwan, will be the U.S. ambassadors. The panel is set to visit China, Japan and South Korea.
Back in mid-November, U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed Taiwan and North Korea during the G20 summit in Indonesia. These talks were aimed at relieving tensions between the two countries.
