A report on this calendar event is released monthly by the Statistics South Africa.

The indicator evaluates changes in production of minerals by mining enterprises. It is based on the information from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).

The indicator is used in calculations to estimate gross domestic product (GDP).

An increase of the indicator value may contribute to the fall in quotes of Nickel, Platinum, Palladium, Copper.
