Nasdaq short positions surged 2.35%

Nasdaq short positions rose to 12.497 billion shares as of September 30. That figure is up from 12.209 billion on September 15, 2022.

Short-selling investors borrow stocks and subsequently sell them, expecting their value to decline. So, there is a chance to buy shares back at reduced cost, return funds to the lender and generate a profit by laying hands on the difference.
