The CEO of Tesla Inc. Elon Musk is eyeing potential funding in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, located in the north on the border with Texas. This is reported by insiders.
The U.S. billionaire has already hosted a meeting the other day with Samuel Garcia, governor of Nuevo Leon, along with Ken Salazar, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico. The gathering also featured a number of local officials.
In particular, Musk is viewing Santa Catarina, a municipality on the outskirts of state capital Monterrey, being the largest and richest city in Mexico. Authorities haven’t yet specified the changes that are entailed with potential investments.
Tesla, headquartered in Austin, Texas, received its own lane in the U.S.- Mexico border in Nuevo Leon, as the government announced in August. The objective is to make it easier for local suppliers to process trade.
