Gold is expected to trend moderately bullish in the week ahead. The real test for buyers will come from two heavyweight US inflation prints: the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Wednesday and the Producer Price Index (PPI) on Thursday. Household sentiment took a real hit in early October as the cost of living continued to bite. If the American CPI comes in soft, the dollar will lose steam—and bullion could make a run for the top of its range.

First, the monetary picture. Right now, the market sees only a 17% chance of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike at the October meeting. However, the odds of tightening before year‑end are much higher, at 86%. With the 10‑year US Treasury yield still hovering near 5.25%, the long‑term "tax" on holding this non‑income-generating metal remains firmly in place. Any hawkish signals from Fed officials will likely put a lid on any rally.

Then there is the demand side. Despite a correction from the record highs set earlier this year, gold is being propped up by sturdy structural appetite. Major regulators—above all, the People's Bank of China, which has been stacking up reserves for 23 months—keep buying bullion. Global ETF holdings of the metal have also been steady at around 4,256 tons after September's capital inflows. This gives long‑term investors a solid cushion to lean on.

So, what's the strategy? For this week, the play stays the same: hold medium‑term longs above $4,150, with targets around $4,250.

The ultimate recommendation is to buy gold from $4,150. Place Take Profit at $4,250. Set Stop Loss at $4,100. This setup may put 10,000 points of gains on the table.

Calculate your open position so that a potential loss (protected by a Stop Loss order) is limited to 1% of your deposit. If your account balance does not allow you to enter a position of this size, it is better to skip the trade and wait for other market signals that meet low-risk criteria.
