Amazon is rescheduling the launch of prototype Internet satellites for early 2023

The first two prototype satellites from Amazon for a projected Internet grouping from space will be launched in early 2023. The announcement was made on Wednesday. The launch will be made using a new rocket from the Boeing-Lockheed United Launch Alliance collaboration.

Launch of ABL Space Systems startup was initially ready to launch two Amazon satellites by the end of this year, but delays in rocket development occurred. Consequently, Amazon decided to take up a place aboard the new ULA Vulcan rocket instead of an additional useful load.

This mission will be the debut for the new rocket. The flight is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023. It is expected to compete with Ilon Musk's SpaceX launchers.

The Amazon Kuiper network is a planned grouping of 3,236 low-orbit satellites to provide broadband Internet to the uttermost ends of the earth. Prototype satellites will be the first to start this network.

The SpaceX Starlink network is growing fast and already offers Internet services to thousands of users in tens of countries. Amazon has announced the amount of money it plans to invest in the project. It comes to $10 billion. The company aims to catch up with its competitor.
