Demand for big jets in Asia leads amid recovery from COVID

According to Airbus top executives, Asia-Pacific airlines may again need wide-body aircraft as the region gradually recovers from the pandemic and opens up to tourists. This should have a positive effect on the entire aviation industry, including Boeing.

Unlike the rest of the world, which is already open to tourists to some extent, Asia continued to keep its borders closed until recently. China, for example, still doesn’t accept tourists. Countries such as Thailand and Singapore, however, have recently opened up to the public. India, on the other hand, has recovered much faster due to a strong domestic market.

Airbus expects passenger numbers to grow by about 5.1 percent each year over the next 20 years, while freighter traffic will grow by 4.1 percent annually.
