Boeing isn’t expecting FAA approval for MAX 10 until summer 2023

A letter from the FAA says Boeing Co. doesn’t have many chances to get approval to operate the 737 MAX 10 no earlier than summer 2023.

The corporation needs to get approval by the end of December for two variants of the 737 MAX generation, the MAX 10 and MAX 7. In cace Boeing Co. fails to do so in December, the commissioning date will be pushed back as new cockpit equipment requirements come into effect in early 2023.

Administrator of the FAA Billy Nolen, in a letter to Senator Roger Wicker, noted that according to Boeing's schedule, it will be possible to obtain the necessary certificate only by the summer of 2023.

Around a week ago, there was a proposal from Wicker to change the deadline for Boeing to September 2024. Such an extension is necessary so that both variants can get approval. Wicker intends to submit the proposal along with the annual defense bill, although it is unclear what the Congress reaction will be.
