Cisco and Microsoft cooperate to implement Teams on Cisco’s devices

On Wednesday, Cisco Systems Inc. together with Microsoft announced their cooperation aimed at adding Microsoft’s Teams on Cisco devices for meetings. The Microsoft Team communication platform is suggested to be offered as an alternative to Cisco’s service for video conferences called Webex.

As it was stated by Jeetu Patel, head of Security & Collaboration at Cisco, the company’s intention is to become a provider of a hardware platform for various types of software solutions for video conferences.

According to Patel’s words, the way this market is currently developing is reminiscent of the development of the movie entertainment market, which is characterized by a situation when a user typically has several subscriptions to various streaming services like Netflix, Disney, HBO and Hulu, using them all at the same time.

Patel also described a possible future situation when a customer would switch off from a Microsoft Teams call to a Zoom call, then start a Google call, and so on, using various platforms simultaneously.
