Intel continues following a plan of strengthening its positions in Europe, and the next stage of this plan is an intention to open a plant for semiconductor assembling and packaging in Italy.
The Italian government and the company representatives have come close to making a deal, which is previously estimated to be around $5 billion. The Italian government intends to make a deal before the start of the early national election, set on September 25, which means that more precise information on the matter might become available towards the end of August.
Besides production construction in Italy, Intel also has plans to invest more than $80 billion into the expansion all over the Europe. This intention corresponds with the determination of European countries to reduce their dependence on semiconductor supplying from Asian countries, as their production was affected by the supply crisis.
