More and more semiconductor companies are interested in building semiconductor production site in Germany. This was influenced by Intel’s decision to invest 17 billion euros in Magdeburg.
The US group Intel is planning to build a semiconductor plant in Germany. This is the first foreign group in almost three decades that will strengthen its production capacity in Germany. Earlier, since the late 1990s, their competitor AMD had set up plants in Dresden. Now, Globalfoundries owns them.
According to Milbredt, example of Intel could inspire other international chipmakers. Intel’s decision to build a production facility in Magdeburg, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, positively affected them. She said that companies were considering boosting investments for the European and German semiconductor ecosystem.
