Last week, wind energy production in Europe spiked. Meanwhile, gas injected into the region's underground storage facilities exceeded its extraction rates for the first time since the heating season began. This is reported by Wind Europe, along with Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).
The average energy production from wind power plants in the Eurozone hit 21.29%, based on last week's data. This figure is 8.64 percentage points above the values recorded a week earlier, when wind power generation grew substantially after a long period of decline. The drop had persisted for five consecutive weeks, but the greatest fall, from 20% to 10%, could be seen at the beginning of December.
Therefore, GIE data show that gas storage increased by 0.11 percentage points between December 24 and 25, representing 82.98% of its nominal capacity. These figures, however, are preliminary and may be subject to revision in the future.
