On Wednesday, Finland's first floating LNG terminal arrived at the southern port of Inkoo. In this way, the Scandinavian country will be able to substitute Russian gas supplies.
The CEO of Gasgrid Finland, Olli Sipilä, said that Finland will be able to phase out of the need to import gas from Russia. This step will provide a proper fuel supply across the country. According to Sipilä, a free gas distribution from the ship will be able to ensure industry, energy and household sectors from the middle of January next year.
The gas will be processed from its liquefied state into fuel and then fed from the storage facility into the network for distribution. The new terminal may also supply gas to the Baltic countries — Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Besides that, fuel imports will also be available to Poland via the Balticconnector pipeline.
