A report on this calendar event is released quarterly by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The indicator assesses the difference in the amounts of payments that were made by the country abroad during the reporting period and received in the country during the same period.

A surplus indicates that capital inflows into the country exceed outflows, while a deficit indicates the opposite trend.
