Finance Minister of France sees several solid reasons to avoid firing US Fed Chair

French Finance Minister Eric Lombard commented on the US President's recent statements about a possible dismissal of the Federal Reserve Chair. In an interview with La Tribune Dimanche, he warned that Powell's ouster would harm the American economy and further undermine the already weakened credibility of the dollar.

Donald Trump's aggressive and unpredictable tariff policy has made investors question the US currency's stability. But, political interference in the central bank's operations would be an even more serious test for the dollar, Lombard argued.

Besides, the US President’s proposed import duties could hurt not just the US but also the global economy. French President Emmanuel Macron also criticized Donald Trump's impulsive and inconsistent decisions.
