It was announced Wednesday that the U.S. and U.K. have entered into an energy partnership. The main goal is a steady, high level of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the U.S. to Britain. The cooperation will focus on the efficient use of energy resources as well.
By cooperating with the United States, Britain and other European countries are trying to reduce their own dependence on Russian energy resources. This was stated by Rishi Sunak, British Prime Minister. He also noted that cooperation with the U.S. will help reduce prices for consumers.
Household spending on electricity has increased significantly over the year. In this regard, the British government had to reduce the cost of electricity and compensate energy companies for the missing difference. Britain is expected to spend 42 billion pounds ($51 billion) over 1.5 years on this support program.
