British business is losing interest in investing in US due to Trump's tariff policy

According to a Deloitte survey of financial directors at major UK companies, the attractiveness of the US as an investment destination has declined sharply. The share of executives who consider the United States a favorable place for investments dropped from +59% at the end of 2024 to just +2% in June 2025. This rapid change coincides with official data showing a decline in foreign investment volumes in the American economy.

During the same period, the UK has become significantly more attractive to domestic investors. The country's investment appeal has risen from -12% to +13%, putting it on par with India as one of the most promising markets. According to Richard Houston, CEO of Deloitte UK, the restoration of confidence in the British economy demonstrates its growing potential for capital investment.

Experts attribute this shift to growing uncertainty in international trade, particularly regarding US tariff policies. Despite persistent caution, the level of business optimism among UK business leaders has slightly improved to -11%, compared to -14% in the previous quarter.
