An updated earnings algorithm based on new principles has been in test for some time in Lyft Inc. The new algorithm provides drivers from 18 cities in the U.S. with a possibility to know places of arrival and details of payment before they make a decision on a requested ride.
Such details as places of drop-off, approximate length and duration of a ride, and payment details will be made available for the Lyft drivers before they choose whether to accept a ride or not. The company is also suggesting to expand the geography of this function. More cities are planned to be included throughout the current year.
The Lyft company is also spending money on testing new filters that would allow the company’s drivers determining the desirable radius of the area they intend to work in, while also giving a possibility to choose a suitable request.
Demand for such functions has been already existing for some time among the drivers of ride-hailing companies. It has resulted from increased fuel and maintenance costs.
As it was stated by John Zimmer, President of Lyft, an Upfront Pay system is about to be developed in the nearest future, with such features as bonuses and incentives being included.
