The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has announced plans to correct "minor errors" identified in the April employment data. The adjustments will be released on Friday alongside the May jobs report.
The BLS explained that the errors occurred during the phased revision of the sample for the household survey. This model is based on 2020 Census data, and its update is a standard procedure.
According to a detailed breakdown of the changes, the adjustments will not affect the overall picture of the April employment report released on May 2.
After the corrections, the number of unemployed citizens in the US will be 7.166 million, up from the initially reported 7.165 million. The number of employed individuals will rise to 163.969 million from 163.944 million, while the civilian labor force will be adjusted to 171.135 million instead of 171.109 million.
