According to Mary Daly, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve (Fed) in the fall is the most optimal scenario. The official stated that by then, there will be sufficient economic data to make a decision on monetary policy, while in July the statistics might be incomplete.
Daly also viewed recent inflation figures in the country positively, but urged continued vigilance.
Earlier on Friday, Fed Governor Christopher Waller noted the central bank could lower rates as early as July. The regulator's next meeting is scheduled for July 29–30.
