Economists worry about threats to global growth

It is predicted that there will be continuously rising interest rates and increasing geopolitical tensions. Thus, these factors, combined with growing uncertainty, are expected to cause difficult times in the global economy.

Such thoughts were expressed by the following economists: former International Monetary Fund chief economist Kenneth Rogoff, former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers and former Bank of England official Kristin Forbes. They announced this at a meeting of the American Economic Association in New Orleans.

According to Harvard University professor Rogoff, the world is experiencing an era of upheaval that could be a turning point for the global economy. It is highly likely that the rivalry between the U.S. and China will only intensify and debt levels will rise. Although the long-term outlook is not positive, investors continue to have faith in the ability of the Fed to curb inflation and avoid a recession.
