In August, 76,965 Tesla vehicles made in China were sold. This figure is almost three times higher than last month, which is due to an acceleration in deliveries after an increase in production at its plant in Shanghai.
After a significant part of production was disrupted by a planned upgrade, despite heat waves and COVID restrictions that severely hit Tesla’s suppliers in the southwest area, a decision was made to increase output at the plant in Shanghai in August.
The increase in production has helped Tesla speed up deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles, in particular to customers based in China, where the American company faces heightened competition from local automakers.
According to Tesla's website in China, the company has reduced delivery waiting time for two of its best-selling models to 14 weeks in China, in addition, the rear-wheel-drive Model Y SUVs are available to customers one month after the order has been placed.
