It was revealed that the papers submitted by the planemaker Boeing for certification of its 737 MAX 7 airliner, don’t contain all the necessary documents, and some of the documents require review by the manufacturer. Boeing was informed about this by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
Certification is a complex process that requires a large package of documents and a thorough review by the FAA.
Due to a lack of sufficient information on the human factor, the FAA cannot complete the review. In this regard, the question arises how long customers have to wait until the delivery of the 737 MAX 7 can be begun.
The human factors information must describe how pilots handle emergencies. That is, the FAA is asking Boeing to confirm that there is minimal or no human factor risk. If there is any, it must be documented and sent for review along with the rest of the documents.
Questions also arise because from the new year new requirements for the equipment of the cockpit are introduced. If the MAX 7 and MAX 10 don’t pass the review by the end of this year, it means that the company will have to make significant changes to the cabin equipment, and therefore the delivery date will be pushed back even further.
In its turn, Boeing assured that at the moment the priority is to fulfill the requirements for the certification of the airliners, which are undergoing review.
Dave Calhoun, CEO of Boeing, noted that the MAX 7 must first be reviewed and approved, and then the MAX 10. The reason is that the MAX 10 approval is dependent on the results of the MAX 7 review.
Moreover, the company assured that great attention will continue to be paid to the documentation, it itself will always be available, and all information about communication with the Federal Aviation Administration will be available as well.
