FDA authorizes multiple shipments of Moderna's Covid booster amid shortages

The U.S.Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it authorized an additional five batches of updated Covid shots from Moderna Inc after deeming them safe, despite shortages.

Recently, the health regulator approved ten batches of updated Moderna booster shots. Keep in mind that booster shots are required to maintain a higher level of protection for many known vaccines, including Covid-19 vaccines.

In order to prepare for a large vaccination campaign that will take place this fall. The US government has ordered more than 170 million booster shots to protect its citizens from the coronavirus disease. The government has also sent out more than 25 million COVID-19 booster shots targeting some of the Omicron sub-variants, namely, BA.4 and BA.5.
