As the government of Germany believes, the country’s key refinery has good prospects to successfully continue operating even in conditions of banning Russian oil supply. It’s necessary to mention that the country is about to begin its ban on Russian oil in the near future.
According to a statement made by a spokeswoman for the Economy Ministry to Bloomberg News, in January, the PCK Schwedt refinery will manage to continue production without using the oil from Russia. As she said, the PCK Schwedt plant, which provides Berlin and swaths of the eastern part of the country with fuel and is now depending on Urals crude via the Druzbha link, has been well-prepared over the recent months.
She added that the production is expected to be executed “at a comfortable, good level of capacity utilization,” with their optimistic position being partially based on assurances from Poland to ship additional volumes via Gdansk.
Due to Germany’s commitment to end pipeline imports of Russian oil completely next year, the country is now under pressure to find alternative energy supplies.
