According to Reuters, Kazakhstan has begun the implementation of its plan to supply oil to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline. For this purpose, the country sent a request to the pipeline operator, Russian oil company Transneft. As stated in the plan, Kazakhstan will export around 20,000 tons of KEBCO oil from the Karachaganak field next month.
Previously, Kazakhstan’s national oil company KazMunayGas (KMG) already stated its intention to make a trial delivery of crude oil through the Druzhba pipeline, however, exact dates weren’t specified. Oil will be sent to a refinery in Schwedt, which supplies fuel to Eastern Germany, including Berlin.
It is also worth noting that the German Ministry of Economics officially refused to purchase Russian oil for its refineries in Schwedt and Leuna in the following year. There is information that supplies from Kazakhstan were reserved for these German refineries. Although the official representative of Transneft, the Druzhba pipeline’s operator, does not confirm Kazakhstan's request.
