According to BofA Global Investment Strategy, private investor inflows into US equities reached about 2.5% in March. This marked the third-largest weekly increase in the history of the bank's observations.
According to the organization, Friday's buying surge occurred amid a rebound in US stock prices, with the S&P 500 index jumping 1.9%, posting its strongest daily rally since late November last year. However, despite this recovery, the major indices are still on track for a fourth consecutive weekly decline.
Recent stock market volatility has been driven by investors' concerns over a potential recession in the US. The Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) of Atlanta predicts that the country's GDP will contract by 2.4% in the first quarter.
However, LPL Financial experts suggest that if a recession is avoided, the S&P 500’s upside potential may be twice as high as the downside risks over the next 9–12 months.
