S&P 500 growth slowed ahead of US Fed May meeting

The American stock market's solid gains, fueled by China's and the United States' attempts to reach a mutually beneficial trade deal, weakened on Monday morning. The world's two leading economies have yet to reach an agreement, but both sides are interested in it, Yahoo Finance reported.

Meanwhile, the markets' attention is drawn to the two-day meeting of the Federal Reserve (Fed) this week. According to the news portal, the US central bank will keep the interest rate unchanged, despite pressure from President Donald Trump.

Among other important events of the week, Yahoo Finance experts highlight Monday’s business activity index and Thursday’s jobless claims. These indicators will give investors an opportunity to assess the current state of the American economy and labor market, according to the news portal.

Besides these data, major US companies such as Ford, Palantir, Disney, and AMD are expected to release their earnings reports this week.
