On Thursday, the Alphabet company activated the first local cloud region for Israel, thereby making this service accessible to the country’s government and military structures. It’s expected that implementation of the new technology will contribute to Israel’s economic growth and increase in number of jobs.
Within this project a local infrastructure will receive a great investment of several billion shekels as Israel's Finance Ministry has announced.
A potential economic impact of Israel’s cloud region implementation might be quite significant. Referring to the Google’s data, Finance Ministry considers that by 2030 this cloud technology will bring about $7.6 billion to the country’s economy, as well as create 21,000 new jobs in the high-tech sector and some others responsible for the cloud service function.
It’s also important that local cloud zones allow transferring some of the key government computing systems into the cloud space, therefore, increasing the effectiveness of government services, reducing time spent on data processing, and saving on operating costs.
