Wednesday's event Search On was in San Jose, California, and was attended by Google executives. They said the search system will follow the latest trends, developing text queries and results to focus more on images and "immersive" material.
For example, while searching for a location to visit, Google offers organized fragments of photos along with a map and images of tourist sites that link to travel guides. These are the results of a search for "visual forward".
It will be possible to search Google by image and text at the same time. For example, by focusing the camera on a chair or a shirt, adding text to the image, it will be possible to find similar things. Google senior vice president Prabhakar Raghavan posted in a blog that user's camera is the next keyboard.
Mr. Raghavan posted that the company plans to create changes and put more natural and intuitive ways of finding information into action in the "coming months".
Wednesday's event was the third annual Search On event. Mr. Raghavan had headed the search system and related departments a few months earlier. Every year Google makes thousands of changes to its search system. Even small changes are significant for the people, who use it.
Google is expected to stand alongside other competitors in augmented reality and related virtual reality soon.
According to Cathy Edwards, vice president and general manager of Google Search, the younger generation of users prefer visual effects, but the company did not have an aim to create products for only one segment of the people.
Google got one new function in Maps. It allows people to share the best sights in unknown areas, partly based on user reviews. It seems that Google took inspiration from users of Generation Z. The function is named Neighborhood Vibe.
