Norway to maintain 2022 gas production levels for 4-5 years

Norway plans to export around 122 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2023. These figures correlate with the volumes in 2022, and the next 4–5 years such level will be maintained.

On Thursday, Norwegian Oil and Energy Minister Terje Osland announced an updated forecast for gas sales from the Norwegian continental shelf for this year. According to estimates, the volumes amount to 122 billion cubic meters, which correlates with the figures in 2022.

According to Reuters, previously unpublished output figures for 2022 increased by 8% compared to 2021. This corresponds to the previous forecast of the government and also coincides with the record 122.37 billion cubic meters set in 2017.

Norway, as the largest gas supplier to Europe, mainly pipes its gas to receiving terminals in the UK, Germany, France and Belgium. So, at the end of 2022, the Scandinavian country also opened a new pipeline to Poland via Denmark.
