Citizens' trust in EU institutions has reached a record high, showing growth amid tense international conditions. According to an Eurobarometer survey conducted in March and April 2025, over half of the 26,000 Europeans polled (52%) expressed confidence in the EU's actions — the highest level since 2007.
At the same time, trust in national governments was significantly lower at just 36%. The highest level of EU support comes from young people aged 15–24, among whom trust reaches 59%. Backing for the euro has also grown, hitting a historic high — 74% of European citizens and 83% of eurozone residents approve of monetary integration.
Despite the fact that opinions about the current state of the economy were nearly split down the middle, a majority of respondents (43%) expect stability in the coming year. A significant share (81%) support establishing a common EU security and defense policy, reflecting the growing demand for collective protection.
