Sentiment among Germany’s population continues deteriorating, according to a Boston Consulting Group (BCG) survey. The study reveals 62% of Germans now hold negative views on the country’s economic and political conditions, marking an increase of 10 percentage points from the previous year.
In Germany, almost a third of citizens are concerned about their financial situation, up from just 25% last year, BCG reports. Despite declining inflation rates, 70% of respondents fear further price hikes.
Meanwhile, Europeans' overall perception of geopolitical risks is significantly lower. Fewer than one-third of surveyed citizens express concern about potential US administration’s tariff increases on global imports.
BCG expert Karin von Funck argues consumers remain hyper-focused on visible inflation resurgence, underestimating how severely trade duties could disrupt regional prices and supply availability.
