According to the weather forecast, Texas will experience this year’s coldest temperatures by the end of the week.
The U.S. National Weather Service data demonstrate that polar air masses will move south through the Central Plains. Low temperatures are expected to reach Texas this morning, December 22. The thermometer will drop below zero.
At the same time, the change in the weather is unlikely to impact oil and gas production and transportation. At least, this impact won’t be as strong as it was during the winter storm in February 2021.
However, the possibility of fluctuations in production due to weather conditions shouldn’t be completely excluded. Although Texas is ready for this cold weather, falling temperatures, along with other problems, may influence some production processes.
Usually, Texas produces and supplies around 29 billion cubic feet of natural gas. For gas used to generate electricity, these figures are reduced to 5 billion cubic feet per day. These gas reserves will be enough to generate electricity for more than 100 days.
