Canadian TC Energy Corp. announced that it will begin the restart process of the Keystone oil pipeline segment. Previously, it was shut down due to an oil leak.
The damaged Keystone segment is connected to a crude oil storage facility in Cushing, Oklahoma, which is the delivery center of the U.S. benchmark crude oil. The pipeline’s emergency shutdown limited supplies to this storage facility in Cushing, causing turbulence in oil markets.
The restart process is expected to take several days. Preliminarily, TC Energy has received the U.S. regulators’ approval for this kind of work. According to some sources, the Keystone segment will be returned into service on December 28–29.
One of the Keystone segments (Hardisty, Alberta, Canada — Patoka, Illinois, USA) already resumed its operation last week. Similarly, the damaged segment from Steele City to Cushing is planned to be restored.
